FHS Cosmos
Curriculum
Our curriculum, weaving together the realms of Astrophysics, Astronomy, and Philosophy, is heralded as a remarkable revitalization of philosophy within the realm of science – an area often overlooked by scientists for years.
Our Impact
We've revolutionized the science learning experience for young minds. What was once exclusively college-level material, we've brought to the realm of students, thanks to our streamlined curriculum. Endorsed by universities and field specialists, our accessible approach is shaping the future of scientific education.
What's next?
Our commitment to this organization is unwavering, and we're dedicated to its continuous growth. With an unceasing drive, we craft fresh events for students, constantly brainstorming innovative approaches to introduce them to captivating experiments and tangible demonstrations. These experiences not only enhance their cognitive abilities but also encourage them to ponder the intricacies of the world around us.
ABOUT
Back in 2020, a group of us, incoming high school students with a shared passion for physics, space, and the deeper meaning of humanity, united. Despite our diverse backgrounds, we aimed to spread our passion far and wide. And let me tell you, the journey wasn't a walk in the park. We encountered hurdles, from crafting engaging content to summing up our mission in a single sentence. One pivotal day, we sat down, took a deep introspective look, and realized that our path to success lay in shaping the minds of America's future: its children.
Guided by this revelation, our team harnessed the power of philosophy to enrich the toolkit of scientists worldwide. We firmly believe that when philosophy and science collaborate, they hold the key to a brighter future for Earth and the unexplored galaxies beyond. With this vision in mind, we blend astrophysics, astronomy, and philosophy, curating a comprehensive curriculum that ignites young minds. From elementary to high school, we're here to empower the next generation with the knowledge they need to craft a better tomorrow.
Who are we?
Meet The Team
Akhil Karthik
Hello, future cosmic explorers! I'm Akhil Karthik, the visionary president and original creator of FHS Cosmos. When I'm not delving into the mysteries of the universe, you can catch me conquering virtual realms in the world of video games. But my true passion lies in the vast expanse of space and the wonders it holds.
Aspiring to major in astrophysics, my journey into the cosmos began at the age of 12 when I was gifted my very first telescope. Ever since that starry-eyed moment, I've been enamored by the art of star gazing and the secrets it unveils.
Inspired by the legendary Richard Feynman, I'm driven to bridge the gap between science and ethics, believing that the future is brighter when the two unite.
Aarush Kulkarni
Hey there! I'm Aarush Kulkarni, and I proudly serve as the VP of Cosmos at Foothill High School. I just can't get enough of our vibrant intellectual environment that sparks fantastic discussions about topics not covered in regular classes. When I'm not busy with school, I'm either strumming away on my guitar or whipping up some delicious grub in the kitchen. Also, I'm a car enthusiast. I love diving into the nitty-gritty of car mechanics. Joining the Cosmos Program has been a blast, and I can't wait to keep exploring new and exciting topics with my awesome club mates!
David Lee
Hi, I'm David, the current Secretary of the Cosmos Union. Born and raised in the Bay Area I find myself passionate to learn about CS and Data Science. However, I am an enthusiast for several more fields of study including space. Some of my hobbies include listening to and playing music, swimming, and playing videogames (yes I love space videogames). I joined this club to learn more about the stars and the cosmos, as well as partake in fun and interesting events and projects.
Arian Moghni
Arian Moghni was a student at Foothill High School. He was one of the founders of the Cosmos club at his school, originally creating the club due to his immeasurable passion in physics and astronomy and as a way to share his interests with the next generation of scientists. In his free time, Arian likes to play chess, watch sports, post about the cosmos on his NASA_Farsi_Ir account on Instagram in Farsi, and solve physics problems for fun. In the upcoming Fall, he will be studying physics (astrophysics) at the University of California, Santa Cruz and plans to continue benefiting his community, whether through science or in any other way.
